Defending the Constitution
& Individual Freedom

I grew up in South Jordan, and I’ve chosen to raise my family here because of the incredible quality of life that comes from strong, conservative leadership in our state. I ran for office because I want my kids to grow up in the same kind of community I was fortunate to be raised in, one grounded in strong values, personal responsibility, and opportunity.

Utah is at a crossroads. We can follow the path of states like Colorado and California, or we can stay true to the principles that have made Utah one of the best states in the nation.

That is what I am fighting for, to preserve the conservative values that have made Utah and our communities strong, and to ensure those same opportunities exist for the next generation.

Those beliefs shape every vote I take and every policy I support.

I believe government exists to protect our God-given rights, life, liberty, and property, and must always remain accountable to the people it serves.

I am committed to limited government, individual freedom, and fiscal responsibility. That means empowering families and communities, not expanding bureaucracy, and ensuring decisions are made as close to the people as possible.

I strongly support the Constitution, including the protection of life, the Second Amendment, and the principles of federalism that preserve the proper balance of power between states and the federal government.

I believe in a legal and orderly immigration system, lower and simpler taxes, and policies that promote opportunity, responsibility, and long-term prosperity.

These principles guide my work, and they are reflected in the priorities I am focused on.

Responsible Growth and Affordable Housing

Utah is growing rapidly, and nowhere is that more evident than in our community. The remaining undeveloped land west of Bangerter Highway represents one of the last major opportunities to shape how our area grows. Those decisions should be made by the people who live here and will be most affected by them, maintaining strong local control over how our communities develop.

At the same time, rising inflation, interest rates, and housing costs are making it harder for families to stay in the communities they love. The dream of homeownership and long-term stability is becoming increasingly out of reach.

Government should be part of the solution, not the problem. That means reducing unnecessary regulations, streamlining the building process, and ensuring policies support job growth and housing supply, not restrict it.

I am committed to responsible, locally driven growth that preserves our quality of life while keeping housing attainable for families at every stage of life. We can meet the challenges of growth without losing what makes our community such a great place to live.

Growth is inevitable. How we manage it is a choice, and I’m committed to getting it right.

Lowering Costs and Strengthening Utah’s Economy

Utah has built one of the strongest economies in the country by staying true to conservative principles like limited government, fiscal discipline, and a strong free market. But today, many families are feeling the pressure of rising costs, from groceries to housing to energy, driven in large part by federal policies that have fueled inflation.

I believe the best way to lower the cost of living and strengthen our economy is to trust individuals and businesses, not expand government. That means protecting property rights, supporting job creation, and investing in infrastructure that keeps our economy moving, while ensuring government remains a partner, not a barrier.

I am proud to have supported efforts to cut taxes by more than $1.5 billion, providing real relief to Utah families. In fact, we have cut taxes every year I have been in the Legislature, resulting in an overall reduction of more than 11% in income taxes for Utah families.

Utah’s strong, disciplined approach to budgeting has also put our state in one of the best financial positions in the country. We maintain a balanced budget, have the lowest debt in state history, and continue to hold the highest AAA bond rating. For the 18th consecutive year, Utah has been ranked #1 in the nation for economic outlook.

I am committed to continuing to lower the cost of living by eliminating the sales tax on food, removing the tax on Social Security benefits, and keeping property taxes affordable. These are practical steps that will make a real difference for families trying to keep up with rising costs.

Lower taxes, responsible spending, and a strong economy aren’t just goals, they’re how we improve affordability, protect opportunity, and strengthen families.

Strengthening Education for Utah Families

A strong education system is essential to Utah’s future. I care deeply about making sure every student has the opportunity to succeed and that our schools are focused on delivering real results in the classroom.

Since taking office, we have increased education funding by more than $2.3 billion. Utah now has some of the highest starting teacher salaries in the region and ranks among the top states in the nation for education outcomes per dollar spent.

I’ve spent time in classrooms across our community, and I’ve seen firsthand both the challenges and the incredible work our teachers are doing.

But funding alone is not enough. We need to stay focused on what matters most, strong academics, support for teachers, and meaningful parent involvement.

I am committed to ensuring teachers have the time, resources, and support they need to succeed. That includes investing in classroom supplies, supporting student teachers, and giving educators more time to focus on instruction.

I also believe parents should play a central role in their children’s education. We need to continue strengthening transparency, expanding educational options, and ensuring families have a voice in decisions that impact their children.

Strong schools aren’t built by bureaucracy, they’re built by great teachers, engaged parents, and a clear focus on student success.

Protecting Kids and Empowering Parents

One of my top priorities has been protecting kids from the growing harms of social media and digital platforms. Too often, these platforms are designed in ways that prioritize engagement over well-being, exposing young people to addictive features, harmful content, and unnecessary risks.

I have been proud to lead efforts in Utah to address these challenges. I sponsored legislation to give parents more control over their children’s social media use, require stronger protections for minors, and hold companies accountable for the impact of their platforms.

I have also sponsored legislation to ensure students are better prepared to safely navigate emerging technologies, including social media and artificial intelligence, so they can use these tools responsibly and avoid the risks that come with them.

In addition, I have supported efforts to get kids outside, engaged, and connected to the real world, because healthy development requires more than screen time.

Utah has become a national leader on this issue, setting a model for how states can step in when technology companies fail to adequately protect children.

This work is not about limiting opportunity or innovation, it’s about ensuring that technology serves families, not the other way around.

I will continue to stand up for parents, protect kids from harmful influences, and make sure Utah remains at the forefront of this important issue.

Parents should be in charge of their children’s lives, not algorithms.

Improving Transportation & Infrastructure

Our community has grown rapidly, and our transportation system is working to catch up. Too many residents, particularly in the southwest part of the valley, are dealing with long commutes and increasing congestion, especially those traveling north or trying to move efficiently across the valley.

I have made transportation a top priority. Since taking office, we have made historic investments in transportation funding to help our infrastructure keep pace with growth. I worked to secure funding to transform Bangerter Highway into a freeway, which is now complete from 4100 South to I-15, significantly reducing commute times for many in our community. I am continuing efforts to complete Mountain View Corridor as a full freeway. These projects are critical to improving east-west connectivity, reducing congestion, and making it easier to access I-15.

But roads alone are not enough. We also need better public transit options that people actually want to use. That means faster, safer, and more convenient systems that can compete with driving.

I am working to expand transit options in our area, including advancing plans to extend the Red TRAX line to connect with FrontRunner on the south end of the valley. This kind of connectivity will be key to supporting long-term growth and improving daily commutes.

I also support expanding active transportation options, including trails and pathways that give residents more ways to safely walk, bike, and connect within our communities.

I am committed to building a transportation system that keeps up with our growth, reduces congestion, and gives families more time back in their day.

Better infrastructure means shorter commutes, stronger communities, and a higher quality of life.

Protecting Free Speech & Religious Freedom

The First Amendment protects some of our most fundamental rights, the freedom to speak openly and to live according to our deeply held religious beliefs. These freedoms are essential to a free society and must be actively protected.

I have made defending these rights a priority in my work. I sponsored legislation to strengthen free speech protections on college campuses, ensuring students can express their views and engage in open dialogue without fear of censorship. I also passed legislation guaranteeing students the right to counsel and due process, protecting their basic rights in educational settings.

As the House sponsor of the Utah Religious Freedom Restoration Act, I helped establish some of the strongest religious freedom protections in the nation, ensuring individuals and organizations can live out their beliefs without unnecessary government interference.

My background in law and my work with organizations focused on religious liberty and international legal development have given me a deep understanding of how essential these freedoms are and how quickly they can be eroded if not protected.

These rights don’t protect popular opinions, they protect the ability to express all views.

I will continue to stand firmly in defense of free speech and religious liberty, ensuring these foundational rights remain protected for future generations.

A free society depends on the ability to speak freely and live your beliefs without government interference.

Protecting Utah’s Resources

As Utah continues to grow, we have a responsibility to be good stewards of the natural resources that sustain our communities and economy. That means protecting what we have while planning responsibly for the future.

Water is one of our most critical challenges. While recent years have helped improve conditions, we are still recovering from a prolonged drought and must prepare for long-term demand. I support investing in water infrastructure, expanding supply, and continuing to promote conservation through practical incentives and education. I also support ongoing efforts to stabilize and restore the Great Salt Lake, which is vital to our environment, air quality, and economy. Ensuring a reliable water future is essential to Utah’s continued growth and stability.

Utah also needs a balanced and reliable energy strategy. I support an all-of-the-above approach that includes traditional, renewable, and emerging energy sources. We must ensure our energy policies are shaped by Utah’s needs, not driven by one-size-fits-all federal mandates, while maintaining affordability and grid reliability. That includes continuing to explore new technologies, including nuclear energy.

Responsible land management is also essential. I support efforts to improve forest health, reduce wildfire risk, and ensure that decisions about our lands are made in a way that benefits Utah communities and future generations, including supporting our schools through trust land management.

I believe we can protect Utah’s natural beauty while also supporting responsible development and a strong economy. These priorities are not in conflict, they are part of the same commitment to long-term stewardship.

Good stewardship means protecting our resources today while ensuring future generations have the opportunity to thrive.

Improving Air Quality for Utah Families

Air quality is a real challenge in Utah, especially along the Wasatch Front, where winter inversions can trap pollutants and impact the health of our communities. As our state continues to grow, we need practical solutions that improve air quality without slowing our economy.

I believe we can address this challenge through innovation, better technology, and smart policy, not heavy-handed regulation. That means supporting cleaner and more efficient energy use, reducing emissions through improved infrastructure and transportation, including continued investments in transportation that reduce congestion and emissions, and encouraging responsible stewardship across industries.

We have already made meaningful progress through market-driven solutions and technological advancements, and we should continue building on that success. By focusing on practical, cost-effective approaches, we can improve air quality while maintaining Utah’s strong economy and high quality of life.

I am committed to advancing solutions that protect public health, support continued growth, and keep Utah a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

We can improve air quality without sacrificing economic opportunity, and I am committed to getting that balance right.

Supporting Legal Immigration & the Rule of Law

The United States has always been a nation built on legal immigration, and that system should be respected, orderly, and fair. I strongly support legal immigration and the many individuals and families who come here the right way to work, contribute, and build better lives.

At the same time, we must be clear that illegal immigration undermines the rule of law, strains public resources, and creates serious public safety concerns. A functioning system requires both compassion and accountability. Legal immigration should be encouraged, illegal immigration should not be tolerated.

While immigration is primarily a federal responsibility, its impacts are felt at the state level. That means states must be prepared to respond when necessary, particularly when it comes to protecting public safety and addressing issues like drug trafficking and border-related crime.

I support policies that uphold the rule of law, oppose sanctuary policies, and ensure our communities remain safe. We can support legal immigration while also maintaining clear, consistent enforcement of our laws.

We are a nation of laws, and a strong immigration system requires both opportunity and accountability.

Making Government More Responsive and Accountable

Government works best when it is close to the people it serves, focused on core responsibilities, and accountable for results. As our communities grow, we need to ensure government keeps pace, not by getting bigger, but by becoming more effective and responsive, and better aligned with local needs.

One area I have focused on is the role of county government, particularly in Salt Lake County. As our region has become increasingly made up of incorporated cities, it raises an important question: what is the appropriate role of county government in a system of wall-to-wall cities?

With a budget of over $2 billion, Salt Lake County has significant overlap between county and city services. I have worked to bring greater clarity and accountability to this structure by running legislation that refocuses county responsibilities and pushes more decision-making to the local level, where it belongs.

I have also worked to reduce unnecessary regulations and improve how government delivers services. That means cutting red tape, removing inefficiencies, and ensuring government is focused on serving people, not growing itself.

There is more work to be done, and I am committed to continuing these efforts.

Government should be limited, effective, and accountable, focused on serving people, not expanding itself.

Public Safety & Second Amendment Rights

Keeping our communities safe is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government. Families deserve to feel secure in their homes, neighborhoods, and schools, and that requires strong support for law enforcement and a commitment to enforcing the law.

I support policies that ensure our law enforcement officers have the tools, training, and resources they need to do their jobs effectively. Public safety starts with accountability and a system that prioritizes protecting victims and maintaining order.

At the same time, I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental constitutional freedom, and law-abiding citizens should be able to exercise that right without unnecessary government interference.

I have supported legislation that protects the Second Amendment rights of responsible individuals, including those who are following medical guidance and should not be unfairly restricted from exercising their constitutional rights.

I will always stand against efforts to undermine the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.

We can protect our communities while also protecting our freedoms. These principles go hand in hand.

Safe communities and individual liberty are not competing priorities, they are both essential to a free and secure society.

Utah’s success didn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of strong values, responsible leadership, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

I will continue working to protect those principles, deliver real results, and ensure our community remains a place where families can thrive for generations to come.
